⚔️ Trope Thursday: Enemies to Lovers

⚔️ Trope Thursday: Enemies to Lovers

There’s nothing quite like a romance that starts with sparks of irritation and ends with sparks of passion. Enemies to lovers gives us tension, banter, and all the delicious angst before the swoon. This week I’m highlighting two very different takes on the trope—one with hockey heat, and one with wedding-weekend chaos.

🏒 Hate You Always by Jennifer Sucevic (Western Wildcats Hockey #1)

She’s the girl next door, he’s her brother’s best friend—and they’ve never exactly gotten along. Ryder ignores her, she tries to ignore the electricity that crackles between them, but when a drunken night exposes her untouched bucket list, everything changes. Suddenly, Ryder is determined to help her check off every item… even the “schmexy” ones. And sometimes, the line between hate and heat gets very, very blurry.

💍 The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score

Franchesca takes her Maid of Honor duties seriously, which unfortunately means clashing with the infuriatingly arrogant Best Man, Aiden. He’s rich, smug, and oh-so determined to push her buttons. She’s smart-mouthed, feisty, and refuses to let him ruin her best friend’s wedding. What begins as nonstop bickering turns into undeniable chemistry… and maybe the one challenge Aiden can’t walk away from.

Why We Love It

  • Banter that cuts sharp before it turns flirty.

  • That slow-burn pull between “I can’t stand you” and “I can’t stop wanting you.”

  • The ultimate payoff: when enemies finally fall, they fall hard.

Enemies to lovers is messy, passionate, and addictive—and these two books deliver it in completely different ways.

💬 Which flavor of enemies-to-lovers do you love more: the slow-burn college rivals vibe or the wedding-weekend bickering chaos?
