“Flamingos, Fake Dating, and Falling for Real” 🦩
Flamingos, Fake Dating, and Falling for Real 🦩
Just for the Cameras (Bay Area Players #1)
by Meghan Quinn
⭐ My Rating: 5 stars x100 (no notes. none.)
🌴 Trope Check: Fake dating, grump x sunshine, forced proximity, media scandal
🦩 Chaos Level: Flamingo feathers + viral fame + tension you could slice with a spoon
About this book:
Graydon St. John is a brooding, don’t-look-at-me, don’t-talk-to-me NFL defensive end who would rather bench press in silence than smile for a camera.
Maple Baker is a loud, sunshiney zookeeper who protects her flamingos like they’re her children.
Because of a league-wide PR disaster, Graydon gets thrown into a public image makeover at the San Francisco zoo… and ends up paired with Maple for a media outreach program.
They’re supposed to fake a little charm for the cameras.
Instead?
They fake flirt.
They fake smile.
They fake chemistry.
Except… it’s not feeling very fake anymore.
Between viral attention, family secrets, and a romance that was only supposed to be for publicity, things spiral fast. And suddenly this PR stunt might cost Maple everything she’s worked for—unless Graydon is willing to fight for something real.
My Review:
THIS IS PERFECTTTT.
Like, Meghan Quinn does not miss. Ever. But this one??? Next level.
First of all—a ZOOKEEPER??
A FLAMINGO GIRLIE??
It sounds random and chaotic and slightly unhinged—and I mean that as the highest compliment because it WORKS. Maple is sunshine in human form. Loud, passionate, messy in the best way. And Graydon? The grumpiest, broodiest football man who absolutely does not want to be there… which makes it 10x better.
The banter? Elite.
The tension? Slow-burn delicious.
The fake dating? I was giggling and kicking my feet.
And can we talk about the GROUP CHAT??
Because YES. I live for Meghan Quinn’s chaotic friend dynamics. The boys hyping each other up, the teasing, the commentary—I eat that up every single time.
What I loved most is that this wasn’t just funny (though it is hilarious). It had heart. Graydon’s protectiveness. Maple’s vulnerability. The way the fake romance slowly turns into something that feels inevitable.
This is one of those books where you finish it and immediately think,
“Okay but I need the rest of this series NOW.”
Coffee & Tea Pairing 🦩☕💕
We are obviously going pink for this one.
Strawberry White Chocolate Latte
Sweet, slightly dramatic, and aesthetically perfect.
OR
Iced Raspberry Rose Latte with whipped cream
Because if we’re doing flamingos, we’re doing ✨extra✨.
Tea option:
Pink Hibiscus Iced Tea with a splash of lemonade
Bright, bold, and sunshine-coded—just like Maple.

Meghan Quinn truly created gold with Just for the Cameras, and I am already emotionally attached to the Bay Area Players.
And yes, this is officially another 5 stars x100 from me.
P.S. For those already emotionally attached to the Bay Area Players… Bennett’s story is already preordered and set to release July 28th. And yes, I will be seated. 💗
