Mini Review Monday: The Office Has Secrets 🖤
⭐ Rating: 4.7/5 – Addictive, eerie, and impossible to put down.
✨ Suspense Level: High – pure cat-and-mouse chaos.
💀 Tropes: Unreliable Narrator, Workplace Suspense, Frenemies, Psychological Thriller
📝 Mini Review:
Freida McFadden does it again with a twisty psychological thriller that had me questioning everyone. Set inside a toxic office filled with fake smiles and hidden grudges, The Coworker follows two women who couldn’t be more different: Dawn — the awkward, misunderstood accountant who lives by routine — and Natalie — the golden girl of sales, charming and confident… until Dawn vanishes. From the first page, I was completely hooked. The tension builds with every chapter as Natalie gets pulled into Dawn’s disappearance and starts receiving cryptic calls that unravel everything she thought she knew. It’s darkly funny, deeply unsettling, and full of that Freida-style “wait, WHAT just happened?” moment that flips the entire story on its head.
💭 What to Expect:
🏢 A claustrophobic office setting full of secrets📞 Anonymous calls and shocking twists
👀 Narrators you can’t fully trust
🧩 A finale that’ll make you rethink everything
💭 What I Didn’t Love:
– A few over-the-top moments near the end, but honestly? It added to the chaos in the best way.🌙 Final Thoughts:
If you love thrillers that blend dark humor, tension, and jaw-dropping reveals, The Coworker delivers all of that and more. It’s creepy, clever, and completely bingeable — like The Office meets Gone Girl with a sprinkle of Freida madness.☕ Coffee Pairing: Iced Black Coffee – bold, bitter, and best sipped while side-eyeing your coworkers.
✨ The Coworker proves that sometimes the people we work with every day are the ones we know the least.
Until next time,
–E 💛
