What's It About?
Ten years after leaving Hart's Landing behind, Mila Ferguson is forced to return home after a family crisis.
She hopes to keep her visit short, avoid painful memories, and leave before reopening old wounds.
Instead, she's reunited with Everett McKean her longtime crush and now the town's beloved mayor.
As old friendships begin to heal and unanswered questions about the fire that changed everything resurface, Mila discovers that sometimes going home is exactly what you need to move forward.
Everett Completely Stole My Heart
I absolutely loved Everett.
He's the kind of main character that's impossible not to root for.
Even as the mayor, he never came across as arrogant or full of himself. Instead, he was caring, patient, and always seemed to put other people first.
Honestly...
He was exactly the kind of book boyfriend I love reading about.
Mila's Journey Felt So Real
One of my favorite parts of this book wasn't just the romance it was Mila's personal journey.
She had so much weighing on her.
A difficult relationship with her mother.
A painful divorce.
Growing up without ever knowing her father.
Being blamed for the fire that changed everything.
Losing the friends she once considered family.
It felt like life had placed her in a box for years and watching her slowly rediscover herself made this story so much more emotional.
I also loved that she expressed herself through drawing flowers. It was such a beautiful detail that matched the hopeful feeling of the story.
The Mystery Kept Me Reading
I love when a romance gives me more than just the love story.
The mystery surrounding the fire kept me hooked from beginning to end. Every new clue made me want to keep reading to find out what really happened all those years ago.
It blended perfectly with the romance instead of taking away from it, making the story feel even more complete.
It Felt Like a Hallmark Movie... with a Mystery
This book gave me all the cozy small-town vibes.
It honestly felt like watching a Hallmark romance mixed with a mystery, and I mean that in the best possible way.
Everything came together naturally.
The friendships.
The romance.
The healing.
The mystery.
It all fit together beautifully and felt incredibly real.
The Quote That Stayed with Me
"People say you can never truly come home again, but sometimes coming home isn't about where you've been. It's about who you're brave enough to become."
This quote perfectly captures the heart of the story.
It's hopeful, emotional, and reminds us that sometimes the hardest journey is finding your way back to yourself.
